Auditions for ‘West Side Story’ at PSHS

The Music and Theater Departments at Pagosa Springs High School announce auditions for the spring musical, “West Side Story,” the classic 1960s musical set on the streets of New York City, with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

An enormous Broadway hit, the play has been called a modern day “Romeo and Juliet,” with a story line that explores the relationships between the Jets, the Sharks and their extended families.

We need lots of young men and women to fill out not only the small number of lead roles, but all of the supporting cast members. “West Side Story” has it all — great vocals, exciting dance numbers, humor and tender story lines.

Auditions will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, and Friday Jan. 30, right after school both days. Come by the band room and sign up for an audition spot. Come prepared to sing one verse of a song of your choosing (show tunes are best). A script reading and group audition is also part of the process. We are available to help you prepare for your audition.

Call Dan Burch at the high school, or Dale Morris, 731 3370. All high school-age students are invited to audition for this exciting show. Performances will be in mid April.
