The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will meet Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. (note the new time) in the Arts ad Crafts Room at the community center. This month’s program will be on the topic of depth of field. Plan on attending and asking your questions and voicing your input on other member’s questions.
Monthly photo competitions theme is held during each club meeting. The two competition categories are the theme category and the open category where any subject is allowed. This month’s theme is “Snow.” Members may enter as many as three prints, but no more than two in either category. President Tom Peterson will lead the critique of photos. This will be done as a group rather than have specific judges.
The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month during the club year from September through May at 6 p.m. Interested photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. Any and all are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for single individuals and $30 for family membership. The Pagosa Springs Arts Council sponsors and manages workshops in the Arts and Crafts Room at the community center. From the outset, the Arts Council has been a partner and supporter of the center.
We started the workshops in 2002 and they have grown substantially since that time. Workshops provide those who want to teach a venue to do so and, at the same time, give our residents a place to learn something new whether it is watercolor, acrylic, oil, drawing, photography or the like. The space also provides a home for the Photo Club, Watercolor Club and a meeting location for various clubs.
If you are interested in teaching a workshop or class, call the Town Park Gallery at 264-5020 for a workshop application form or download the form from our Web site, www.pagosa-arts.com.
If you are a resident and have ideas and suggestions for a class or workshop we haven’t offered, please let us hear from you. The Arts Council’s mailing address is: P.O. Box 533, Pagosa Springs, CO, 81147, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
To date, all our workshops have been held during the day. Would evenings work better for you? Would you prefer a series of classes? If you would like to see the Arts Council offer workshops in either of these formats, call PSAC at 264-5020, leave your name and number and we’ll touch base with you.
