On Sunday, Dec. 28, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will close out 2008 with a showing of a Bill Moyers documentary about one of the most popular and enduring hymns in the English language: “Amazing Grace.”
This moving PBS special chronicles the history of a song which has been adapted over many years by scores of performers, from country music to gospel and folk singers. The program features some of these performers as they express what this great hymn, written by the captain of a slave trading ship, means to them.
The children’s program, ending the month of their theme of light, will hear the Hanukkah story of the eight-day Festival of Lights in the Jewish tradition. The story tells of miracles and hope. We will create a menorah and share our hopes for the new year.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbrier Drive off of North Pagosa by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
