Cellist Sarah Dorian-Lawrence, daughter of Jim and Becky Dorian of Pagosa Springs, will present a Christmas Eve cello recital at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church beginning at 7:15 p.m.
The recital will precede St. Patrick’s 8 p.m. Christmas Eve worship service and will include both classical music and Christmas carols.
Dorian-Lawrence, who currently resides in Shawnee, Kans., received her bachelor of music degree from Vanderbilt University and her master’s degree from Notre Dame University. She served as an associate professor of music at Indiana University in South Bend, where she also helped manage the famed Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.
Sarah has performed with the Seattle Choral Company, Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with festival orchestras at Brevard Music Center, Interlochen and Aspen Music Festival where she has worked with famed conductor, Robert Shaw, as well as numerous other renowned conductors. Sarah has performed solo recitals in Kansas, Tennessee, Colorado, Indiana and Washington.
With a passion for teaching and promoting the arts, Dorian-Lawrence has served as a mentor and coach to many young musicians. She is currently beginning a string program at the prestigious Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City.
The public is invited to attend this free concert and remain for St. Patrick’s beautiful Christmas Eve Service that begins at 8 p.m.
