Civic Club Bazaar
A big thank you to all the shoppers, vendors, volunteers, and donors who made the annual Woman’s Civic Club Holiday Bazaar a huge success on Saturday, Nov. 15. The winners of the BeautiControl booth drawing are Nancy Hay and Diane Cooney. We hope to see you next year for this great holiday kickoff event.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Fashion Show was a great success.
We would like to thank Maria MacNamee of Happy Trails for sponsoring the show. All of Maria’s committee — Mary McKeehan, Dee McPeek, Ann Bubb, Lynn Bridges and Mark Hayward — did a great job.
Thanks to the servers, models and models’ helpers.
The luncheon was put on by Victoria’s Reign. Pat Kahn and her staff performed beautifully.
The net proceeds of the show will be used at the new John Paul II kitchen on South Pagosa Boulevard.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Fashion Show Committee
The annual Immaculate Heart of Mary Fashion Show fund-raiser was indeed an overwhelming success. I would like to give a huge thank you to Dee McPeek, the event coordinator and head of the volunteer committee, along with Mary McKeehan, Anne Bubb, Mike Hayward, Lynn Bridges, Winnie Pavlovich, Mary Meyer, their husbands, Judy Cramer, Steve McPeek, Don MacNamee, Don McKeehan, all the volunteers that helped serve, and the gorgeous models and Pat Kahn of Victoria’s. Your generosity of time and your amazing talents are hugely appreciated; it resulted in a donation of almost $4,000 to the new IHM Parish Hall.
The Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library would like to thank the following businesses and individuals who have made our children’s and teen programs this fall quarter a huge success. Your partnership and generosity have been tremendously appreciated by our young people! Our thanks go to: Stephanie Jones — Rocky Mountain School of Ballet; Megan Macht and Debbie Tully — Pagosa fire Protection District; Bill Stine — Quest Aerospace; Dr. Jordan Rutherford; Phil Janowsky; Sabine Elge; Zach Graveson; Eric Matzdorf — Pedal & Powder; Dr. Tim Mazzola; Summit Ski & Sports; Scott Kay — Ski Patrol; Durango Discovery Museum; and Bill McKown and Anne Kautcky — Pagosa Area Pilots Association.
On behalf of the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, Upper San Juan Search and Rescue and Colorado Mounted Search and Rescue, I would like to thank the staff at Pagosa Power Sports for the use of four of their ATVs during two recent search and rescue incidents. After a call to Dan Johnston at Pagosa Power Sports, Warren Eden and Lenny Baker selflessly gave theirs and one of the company ATVs to SAR volunteers. Both missions were a success.
It is caring people like these who make this community great.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado extends a sincere thank you to the Kiwanis Club for hosting a fun-filled Pumpkin Carving Party for Little Brothers and Little Sisters who are involved in the program in Pagosa Springs.
As the first “Big for a Day” organization to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters locally, Kiwanis helped to organize the event, provided needed supplies, and volunteered to serve as “Bigs” at this event for kids who are waiting to be matched with a permanent mentor.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest mentoring organization in the United States and contributes to better communities, stronger schools and brighter futures by bringing successful mentoring relationships into the lives of kids. We thank the Kiwanis Club for helping us to further this vision in our local community. Their willingness to “carve out a little time” to help Big Brothers Big Sisters demonstrates yet again the strong commitment of the Kiwanis Club to the youth of this community and is greatly appreciated.
