Kids Vote, too
A big thank you goes to the many volunteers who made our Project: Vote! Kids Vote, too! campaign a success: June Madrid, Tomi Fredenall, Archuleta School District administrators and teachers, National Honor Society students, Key Club students, Mrs. High and her seventh-grade volunteers, Archuleta County League of Women Voters, Mary Beth McAuley, Susan Junta, Ericka Vincent, Pam Lister, Jan Hester, Cathne Holt, Catherine Frye, Kellilyn Patterson, Mrs. Cowan and Jonell Wood. Your time and cooperation is sincerely appreciated.
Silver Ring thing
A huge thank you to all of the community members who helped bring in and support the Silver Ring Thing event last Wednesday evening. The event was wonderfully successful with over 600 students and adults attending. It would not have been possible without the incredible numbers of volunteers — ring sizing, registration, security, ushers, prayer support, food, housing, loading and unloading, technical support, financial support, and parental support. May the impact of your contribution reverberate throughout our area. Once again, a big thank you.
The Pagosa Springs Police Department and our local Hunter Education program both received NRA grants for 2008. The grant funds received by the police department allowed them to purchase defensive equipment including helmets, tactical armored vests and facemasks. Training equipment such as air soft pistols, rifles and practice ammunition and targets were also purchased with the NRA grant. A department volunteer was sent to range master school to help ensure the safety of all officers during practice and training. Our local Hunter Education program was able to purchase new ear and eye protection in adult and youth sizes. Portable target stands and supplies were also purchased.
Both organizations would like to thank the NRA for their support of our local law enforcement and Hunter Education programs.
