The search for a town manager could be over as soon as today, at the mid-month meeting of the Pagosa Springs Town Council set for noon in council chambers at Town Hall.
Council and David Mitchem have discussed an agreement since late September and it has been subject to ongoing negotiations.
Last week, town legal counsel put what had been verbal agreements into contract form.
Mayor Ross Aragon Tuesday said he and council member Shari Pierce will meet with Mitchem this morning and go over that contract, making any needed last-minute adjustments prior to the noon meeting. Council will then discuss the terms of the offer and, if council and Mitchem find those terms acceptable, the council will likely appoint Mitchem as the new town manager.
Mitchem has a master’s of public administration from the University of Missouri, a B.S. (double major) in economics and business administration from Lincoln University and has been the CEO of the Economic Development Council in Castle Rock, Colo., since 2005.
