It’s time once again for Baile de Otono.
The Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta Club will once again sponsor a fall dance, to be held this year at Chavolo’s on Piedra Road on Saturday Oct. 18.
The doors open at 8 p.m.. Admission is $12 per person and this year we invite teens to attend at $6 per person (teen curfew is 11 p.m.).
Entertainment will be provided by a very talented band, Checkmate, from Aztec, N.M. They will fill the dance floor for sure with a variety of dancing tunes from rock, to country, to Mexican hits. Their music has entertained many fans at fiestas and celebrations in Taos, Albuquerque, Ignacio and at other gigs near and far. The band members include 14, 15, and 16 year-olds, so teens will enjoy the youthful sound.
All proceeds from the dance will go towards the June 2009 Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta. Plans are underway to have a huge fiesta in 2009 and all interested volunteers, vendors, entertainers and others should indicate interest by writing P.O. box 71 or calling Jeff Laydon at 264-3686.
Sponsorships for various aspects of the fiesta are needed, and there are some excellent opportunities for businesses and organizations to participate. Another way to participate is by giving us your favorite Hispanic Recipes for a Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta Cookbook.
The Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta Club is dedicated to provide scholarships to Pagosa Springs High School graduates. The club has monthly meetings every second Tuesday at The Bank of The San Juans at 5:30 p.m.
