Martha T. Quintana died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at her home in Arboles, following a lengthy illness. She was 67.
Mrs. Quintana was born Jan. 24, 1941, in Rosa, N.M., to Miguel and Beatrice Quintana. She married Arcenio Quintana June 19, 1960.
Mrs. Quintana worked as an office manager for the BIA and FBI in Dulce, N.M., and then Southern Ute Community Action Programs and Williams Field Service in Ignacio. In 1986, she and her children opened Martha T’s Restaurant in Arboles. Her favorite jobs were washing dishes, baking and bookkeeping.
She had a passion for people, especially the younger generation. She wanted all of them to know how much God loved them. She spent her life loving and caring for people. If she wasn’t helping people, she was feeding stray animals. She also fed hundreds of birds waiting outside her back door. She loved her children, grandchildren and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arcenio; son Mark; and grandson Randy.
Mrs. Quintana is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Harrison, of Bayfield; her son, Roland Quintana, of Arboles; her brothers, Billy and Paul Quintana of Bloomfield, N.M.; sisters Rose McGuire of Farmington and Vicky Quintana of Bloomfield, N.M.; five grandchildren; various nephews, nieces and other family members. A memorial service was held Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Restoration Fellowship, 264 Village Drive.
