Zachary Joseph Arnold died Sept. 23, 2008, in a tragic dirt bike accident.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Alex Arnold; sisters Hannah and Jazzmond; grandparents David and Marcia Arnold and Bobbie Rowe. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charlie Rowe. His great-grandmothers are Ginny Alex and Mary Reed Harris. His aunts and uncles are Kim Kinney of Oregon, Steven Arnold of Wisconsin, Joshua Arnold and Jennifer Arnold. He is also survived by numerous family and friends at Wines of the San Juan.
Zachary will be greatly missed. His active part in all aspects of the winery business leaves an unfillable void. His hands were involved in everything! He worked side by side with his father and grandfather on building all the structures, their home, and the vineyard, which led to a love for woodworking. Many people in the community are fortunate to have a handmade picture frame, mirror, or piece of furniture made by him. Another one of his passions was tinkering with the Internet and computers. He was known for helping many friends solve their computer problems.
On a normal day you would find Zachary in the vineyard caring for the vines, irrigating, weeding and mowing the property or working on their home. However, on a great day, you would find Zachary riding his dirt bike, camping, skiing at the lake, snowboarding, hiking, paintballing, or just hanging around a bonfire with his family and friends.
Zachary never met a stranger and loved to visit with people. His zest for life was shown in his water sports, motorcycle and dirt bike riding, snowboarding, love of music and playing the mandolin. As he stated on his My Space page his heroes were “his Dad and Mom,” and he said “life for me is swell here in Northern New Mexico.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the High Desert Racing Club (HDRC) P.O. Box 172, Marvel, NM 81329.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Wines of the San Juan, 233 Highway 511, Blanco, N.M.
