Once people realize how much their health care is going to cost next year I’d be surprised if Pagosa gets any tourists at all. That and all the newly part time workers whose employers had to change their status. My health insurance costs are going up nearly 50%. I checked on Colorado exchange website. That is for HIGHER deductibles. Affordable health care act, what a crock. Just another poorly thought out socialist scam, brought to you by people who failed math in high school.

Obamacare is a disaster now, will be a lot worse soon, at least someone is trying to stop it.

I’m not sure shutting down the gov is the way to go, but sometimes brutal Nobel Peace Prize hypocrites & their thugs have to be taught a lesson.

Like wow man It’s like a sit-in, except it works.

kong, you are one twisted individual if you think this is obama’s fault. did he shut down the government? no sir, he did not. keep spinning. and aj, i am sorry your way of life has been so brutalized by the president, even though you have yet to see the actual effects of the affordable care act on anyone or anything. you know, it’s not obama’s fault that the republicans have been completely ineffective in opposing or reversing the new law, using every possible legal method at their disposal often and repeatedly – even losing in the supreme court. every time the lose, they get more irate. they just can’t handle the fact that they can’t have their way and have taken it unto themselves to disrupt the lives of millions of americans with this shutdown stunt. the affordable care act was passed in a proper, legal way, not by some dictator and his thugs. you’ve got to be kidding! it seems the number one goal of the republican party is to deny health care to the un-insured, and are willing to hurt families and communities economically in order to prove their defiance. that’s really compassionate, huh? it sucks to lose elections, i know. “i feel your pain.” maybe next time, get more of your friends to vote or choose more effective representation if you don’t like the way things are going. do NOT try to place the blame for the government shutdown on the president. it is intellectually dishonest. if a white guy were in office and this was called “romney care” (remember him? the guy whose health care plan this is modeled after?), you’d support it 100% and everybody knows it. this shutdown is all about hate and opposition to the president. it has absolutely nothing to do with what benefits the citizens of this country. we are not always going to be happy with politics, but acting like babies throwing fits is not helping anyone. it didn’t help in 1996 when newt pulled his stunt, and it ain’t helping now. i hope you are ready for the consequences that your party will endure once the dust settles.

LOL. You think Obama’s the next Ghandi but actually is the next Chavez.

BTW Republicans have a majority in the House, voted in 2010 largely due to massive opposition to …. Obamacare, this is what’s called representative government. It’s working like it should. I’m sorry your lifestyle is being affected by democracy in action.

Hopefully this budget stand off will end soon, now that we’ve all been reminded why they are doing it, and when Obamacare fails miserably next year (another election yeah!), we’ll all remember.

Oh and by the way what gets shut down under these situations is well within the scope of presidential discretion, so yes I do blame the closure of specific things on the White House, Obama, and Reid. They are closing things folks like (parks etc) to piss off the most people and trying to blame the republicans. If you can’t see this or don’t understand how it works you are blind or willfully disingenuous.

The larger issue is we cannot afford our current entitlement trajectory, we’re right at the tipping point of more people are receiving them (and voting for them) than are paying for them. In a democracy this is a recipe for fiscal disaster. If we don’t watch out USA is going to be the next spectacular socialist Utopian failure. Getting close and Obamacare is a big step along the way.
