Pirate golfers swinging into season with trio of tournaments this week

Pirate senior Nathan Smith tees off at Pagosa Springs High School’s home golf tournament Wednesday. The tournament opened the season for the five teams present: Pagosa, Durango, Alamosa, Monte Vista and Montezuma-Cortez. The Pirates’ results from the tournament will be available in next week’s issue of The SUN.

While most student-athletes at Pagosa Springs High School are just starting official practices this week, the Pirate golf team has been at it since Aug. 5 and is currently in the midst of playing three tournaments in three days.
