2019/04/obit-corcoran-Dadobit-193x300.jpgJimmie D. Corcorran, formerly of Pagosa Springs, went to be with the Lord on April 4 at his home in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Cordell, Okla., to Thelma and Jessie Corcorran. He attended Dill schools and graduated from Dill High School in 1953. He later moved to Houston, Texas, where he made his home with his wife, Marie, while working for the City of Houston as the deputy tax assessor and collector.
Jimmie traveled to Colorado every summer with his family and would spend a month camping, four-wheeling and searching for rocks to transform into polished belt buckles. He scaled the mountains of Silverton, Ouray, Pagosa Springs and surrounding locations. Jimmie retired in 1987 and his fondness for Colorado led him to move to Pagosa Springs, where he built the infamous dome house. Neither snow, sleet or hail could keep him from going over Wolf Creek Pass to his favorite steakhouse in South Fork. Jimmie made friends wherever he went and touched the lives of many.
Jimmie was a devoted soldier of the Lord. He faithfully loved the Lord with all his heart. Despite having suffered a major debilitating stroke in 1998, his faith remained unwavering. He never questioned the Lord and allowed himself to be used for His purpose. Jimmie used his God-given gifts and never let his limitations hinder him to witness and share the love of the Lord. He was a deacon in several churches he called home from Pasadena, Texas; Pagosa Springs, Colo.; and Bloomfield, N.M. All he ever wanted was to serve in any capacity.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie (Miles) Corcorran; daughter Beverly Rhea (Donald), of Conroe, Texas; son Rick Corcorran (Zuriñe), of Bayfield, Colo.; brother Gayle Wayne Corcorran (Linda), of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Sean Rhea (Jennifer), Brandi Rhea, (Alex), Courtney Thibodeaux (Chris), John Silvia (Venessa) and Brandon Corcorran, all of Texas; great-granddaughters Avery, Annise and Alissa; great-grandson Riley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at later date and his ashes will be taken to his final resting place somewhere in Colorado.
