2018/12/obit-ellsmore-1-229x300.jpgI was asked to write an obituary for my daughter when she passed away, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. It has taken almost a full year of grieving and processing the death that these words can now leave me.

Juliana Sunn Ellsmore, age 19, passed away from a car accident on Wolf Creek Pass, 28 miles away from her home in Pagosa Springs, Colo. She was driving from her school in Denver, Colo., to visit with her family for the Christmas vacation. It is believed that she fell asleep at the wheel and drove her car off the steep cliff edge of Highway 160. The cause of death was blunt-force trauma and she was determined to have died immediately.

She is survived by her parents, Darren and Sariah Ellsmore, and her siblings, Kalei, Hunter, Kirra and Malaya Ellsmore.

Juliana was a wonderful person who was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a kind-hearted, beautiful soul who shared encouragement and support to the many friends who she adored.

She loved many things, from children to animals, travel, music and the arts.

Her family has set up a scholarship in her honor allowing for young people in the Pagosa area to receive musical training.

This day will be forever etched into the hearts of the family and friends of this young woman, remembering her beauty and love, her spunky attitude and her gracious presence. She will be dearly missed.
