The Archuleta County Republican Central Committee (ACRCC) is sponsoring a “Chili Chow Down” to be held at La Taqueria San Juans on Oct. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Chili Chow Down is a fundraiser with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the Mojie Adler Education Fund, a fund established by the local Republican Party to provide grants for the continuing education of law, fire and medical first responders and 50 percent to the ACRCC general fund.

Homemade Texas-style chili will be served with beans and rice on the side as well as all the fixings needed to satisfy the finicky chili connoisseur. Dessert will be provided and a cash bar will be available.

A silent auction, a 50/50 drawing, games and a door prize drawing are among the activities for the evening. J. Paul Brown will emcee the event. State and local candidates will be in attendance.

Tickets are $15 each and seating is limited, so get your tickets early. Tickets are available at Jim Smith Realty, 445 San Juan St., and Farmers Insurance Agency, 46 Eaton Drive, Suite 7. You can also contact the ACRCC Secretary Ronnie Zaday at 731-3971 or email her at archrepcentralsec@gmail.com to arrange purchase.
