Sadie Archuleta Mares

http://www.pagosasun.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/obit-photo-Sadie-Mares-3-203x300.jpgSadie Archuleta Mares, 68, of Aztec, passed away April 17. She was born Nov. 17, 1949, in Pagosa Springs, Colo., to Mary Sisneros Archuleta and Charlie Archuleta.

She grew up in Pagosa and lived in the Four Corners area most of her life. She worked in nursing homes in Durango, at Tamarron Resort as housekeeping supervisor and at Fort Lewis College.

Sadie was a loving and loyal friend. She was a great cook and was especially proud of her first-place win at the Fort Lewis College Green Chile Cook-Off several years ago. She enjoyed cookouts and get-togethers with her extended family. Sadie was an accomplished angler who loved to fish at Groundhog Lake in Colorado and at Lake Powell in Utah.

Sadie was preceded in death by her first husband, Laverne Hunter; parents Mary Sisneros Archuleta and Charlie Archuleta; and brothers James and Ted Archuleta.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Mares; son Robert Abeyta; daughters Mary Ann Abeyta Anchondo and Yvette Abeyta; step-daughter Tracy Hunter; brothers Dan Kingsley and Ron Archuleta; sisters Alice Chavez, Lala Dunlap, Berlinda Vorhies and Lovetta Vigil; grandchildren Rayanna and Ray; and several great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service for her on Friday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Pagosa Springs.
