A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. according to the U.S. National Weather Service

The affected area is Fire Weather Zone 295 Southwest, which includes Archuleta County.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Fire Weather Watch below 8,000 feet for wind, low relative humidity and dry fuels, which is in effect from late Sunday morning through Sunday evening.

Southwest winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Relative humidity is expected to be 12 to 17 percent.

New fire starts may be difficult or impossible to control due to fast rates of spread. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
