According to the Archuleta County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 1:20 this afternoon, a notification was sent to local law enforcement agencies attempting to locate a vehicle traveling toward "the Denver area with five escaped juveniles from Robert E. DeNier Youth Service Center in Durango."

Sheriff Rich Valdez "initiated a response when he noticed a vehicle matching the description traveling through Pagosa Springs," reads the report. "A vehicle pursuit ensued with members of Archuleta County Sheriff's Office and Pagosa Springs Police Department involved."

The Colorado State Patrol and South Fork Police Department were notified of the pursuit, which was headed east over Wolf Creek Pass. The vehicle and occupants (including the driver) were apprehended in a multi-agency arrest at approximately mile marker 182 on U.S. 160, just before the town of South Fork.

"Officers were involved in a foot chase with the suspects shortly after the vehicle came to a stop," continues the release. "All five escapees and the driver were arrested, detained and have subsequently been transported to La Plata County Jail."
