John was received by Jesus March 11, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 9, 1925, to Walter Perkins and Effie Perkins (Womack). He was the second to the oldest of seven children born to this union, all who have preceded him in death.

They have eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn their uncle are his nieces and nephews, the Christian, Hephner, Perkins, Price and Sayer families.
