The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a report for significant snowfall tonight through tomorrow.
“Significant impacts to travel are likely late tonight and early Thursday morning,” reads the NWS report.
The report, which was issued today at 1:15 p.m., explains that heavy snow is expected across Archuleta County and much of southwest Colorado.
It explains that snow is expected to diminish in intensity Thursday afternoon, with another storm moving into the region on Friday.
The snow will develop this evening and will become heavy at times between 10 p.m. tonight and 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
“Visibility may be reduced to less than a half mile at times in heavy snow,” reads the report. “Icy and snow packed roads are expected.”
A total of 6 to 12 inches are expected to fall over the San Juan Mountains, with 4 to 8 inches falling near Pagosa Springs, and 2 to 6 inches falling near Durango.
“Heavy snow will significantly reduce visibility at times overnight and early Thursday morning,” reads the report. “Motorists and other outdoor enthusiasts should be prepared for winter conditions and poor travel conditions across much of Southwest Colorado.”
