2017 Archuleta County Fair event schedule

This weekend offers the opportunity to “Rediscover Your Smile” at the Archuleta County Fair.

The fair will again feature the traditional 4-H and open class exhibits, as well as a variety of activities and entertainment.

Following is the full event schedule.

Every day of fair

9 a.m.-6 p.m. — Kids ride the train free/Kid games tent.

9 a.m-5 p.m. — Vendors/food.

9 a.m.-6 p.m. — Petting farm.

10 a.m.-8 p.m. — Various entertainment and shows.

9 a.m.-9 p.m. — Exhibit Hall and Stith Room with the open and 4-H class entries and displays is open.

Thursday, Aug. 3

9 a.m. — Livestock Tent: Goat shows; 4-H, open and showmanship.

9 a.m. — Exhibit Hall and Stith Room open.

Noon — Livestock Tent: Lamb Show; 4-H, open and showmanship.

12 p.m. — Activity Tent: Dr. Barb Shaw, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

1 p.m. — Activity Tent: Pie-eating contest, adult and youth divisions.

2 p.m. — Livestock Tent: 4-H Turkey Show and Showmanship.

3 p.m. — Activity Tent: Dr. Barb Shaw, STEM.

4 p.m. — Arena: Parelli Horsemanship demo.

5 p.m. — Carnival opens.

6 p.m. — Livestock Tent: 4-H Swine Show and Showmanship.

6:30 p.m. — Activity Tent: Broke with Expensive Taste (live music).

7:30 p.m. — Livestock Tent: Steer Showmanship and Fitting Clinic.

Friday, Aug. 4 

8 a.m. — Wester Heritage Events Center (WHEC) 4-H Building: 4-H Rabbit weigh-in before show.

9 a.m. — WHEC 4-H building: Rabbit Show Open Class.

9:30a.m. — WHEC 4-H building: 4-H market, Youth and Showmanship Rabbit Show.

9 a.m. — Exhibit Hall and Stith Room open.

10 a.m. — Activity Tent: Wild Man Phil.

11 a.m. — Activity Tent: Dr. Barb Shaw, STEM.

12 p.m. — Activity Tent: Come Read with Rowdy, Three Rivers liturgy initiative.

1 p.m. — WHEC 4-H building: Chicken Show 4-H, Showmanship and open classes.

1 p.m. — Activity Tent: Wild Man Phil.

2 p.m. — Activity Tent: Dr. Barb Shaw, STEM.

3 p.m. — Activity Tent: Come Read with Rowdy, Three Rivers liturgy initiative.

Carnival opens at 3 p.m.

4 p.m. — Grounds: Fly-casting contest.

4 p.m. — Arena: Parelli Horsemanship demo.

4 p.m. — Activity Tent: Wild Man Phil.

5 p.m. — Activity Tent: Dr. Barb Shaw, STEM.

6 p.m. — Activity Tent: Crooked Sky — live music.

6 p.m. — Livestock Tent: 4-H Steer Show and Showmanship.

7 p.m. — WHEC 4-H building: 4-H Small Animal Round Robin.

9 p.m. — Activity Tent: Friday night dance music by Los Mitotitos.

9 p.m. — Exhibit Hall closes.

Saturday, Aug. 5 

8:30a.m. — Livestock Tent: 4-H Showmanship Clinic.

9 a.m. — Exhibit Hall, Stith Room and vendors open.

9 a.m. — Horseshoe pitching doubles tournament.

10 a.m. — Activity Tent: Wild Man Phil.

10 a.m. — Livestock Tent: 4-H Master Showman.

Noon — Rodeo Arena: Ranch Rodeo.

Noon — Activity Tent: Wild Man Phil.

Noon — Carnival opens.

2 p.m. — Activity Tent: Wild Man Phil.

4:30-6:30 — Activity Tent: Music by the San Juan Mountain Boys.

4:30-6:30 p.m. — Activity Tent: 4-H Chuckwagon Dinner.

5:30 p.m. — Activity Tent: Fair honorees, Conservationist of the Year.

5:45 p.m. — Activity Tent: Various contests to follow fair honorees.

5:30 p.m. — Livestock Tent: Bidder/add-on registration.

6:30 p.m. — Livestock Tent: Livestock auction.

9 p.m. — Exhibit Hall and Stith Room closes.

9 p.m.-midnight — Activity Tent: Fair dance with The High Rollers.

Sunday, Aug. 6

The fair buildings and tents close at 6 p.m.

8 a.m. — Rodeo Arena: Kid’s Rodeo late registration.

9 a.m.—Fairgrounds: Vendors open.

9 a.m. — Stith Room and Exhibit Hall open.

9 a.m. — Livestock Tent: 4-H parent master showman contest.

11 a.m. — Activity Tent: Pie-eating contest, adult and youth divisions.

Noon — Rodeo Arena: Kids’ Rodeo.

Noon — Activity Tent: Karaoke

Noon — Carnival opens.

2 p.m. — Animals loaded on semi truck.

4 p.m. — Livestock Tent: All private haulers must remove animals.

4-6 p.m. — Exhibit Hall: Release of open class projects to entrants and premiums paid.

4-6 p.m. — Stith Room: Release of 4-H class projects to entrants.

4:30 p.m.—Livestock Tent/WHEC building: Tear down — All 4-H’ers are required to help.

6 p.m. — Fair closes until next year.

Livestock tents and WHEC building tear down schedule

7:30-8 a.m. — Animals fed and watered.

7:30-5 p.m. — Remove personal items.

2 p.m. — Animals loaded on semi truck.

4 p.m. — Livestock Tent: All private haulers must remove animals.

4 p.m. — 6 p.m. Exhibit Hall: Release of open and 4-H class projects to entrants.

4:30 p.m. — Livestock tents and WHEC building: Tear down — All 4-H’ers are required to help. Please do not start early.
