Economic growth evident in town data

Reports presented to the Pagosa Springs Town Council at its meeting of Thursday, Jan. 21, included data that reflect economic growth in the community. Among the reports were those on sales and lodgers’ tax revenues, and on issuance of building permits by the town during 2015.

Sales tax revenues up 

Town Manager Greg Schulte reported that sales tax collections for the town’s General Fund through November 2015, the most recent month for which figures are available, have been $1,917,018. This amount is approximately $209,000, or 12 percent, above the projection in the annual budget adopted last fall for the full year. It is also 18.6 percent greater than collections through November 2014.
