Change is constant and, yet, human beings have a natural tendency to resist change. It’s so easy to say, “That’s the way it’s always been. Why change it?”

In organizations, this attitude can be deadly. Many remember when the Pagosa Pregnancy Center first started 16 years ago in a little house up the street from its current location. But look around. More has changed than the building or the location. Look at the clients we serve. Gone are the baby boomers and generation-X clients on which the center was built. We now serve a new generation of millennials, who are as different from the previous two generations as we were from our parents and grandparents. We must ask ourselves, “What does our name say to prospective clients and the community? Does it communicate what we do?”

Winston Churchill said, “There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction.”
