Allen Lucas is famous at GECKO races for traveling with an entourage of family members. They range from Landon (Allen’s nephew), 5 years old, to Allen, 58 years old, and they arrive en masse at GECKO registration, where they each enter one of the distances offered.

Devil Mountain Ultra and Demons of Dust Trail Series this past weekend were no different, with six Lucas family runners and two crew. But, in fact, Allen lamented that, “Sadly, this was kind of an off year since there were a couple of conflicts that kept a few people away that otherwise would have been there.”

As far as those who did race, there was Allen, who ran the half marathon, and Diane (Allen’s wife), 57, ran/walked the 5k while still fighting an injury. This allowed her to hang with the two young ones. Elisha (Allen’s sister-in-law) ran the 5k; Blailand (his nephew, 13) ran his second half marathon; and Riley (their grandson, who is 9) ran the 5k.
