Special to The SUN

The Foundation for Archuleta County Education (FACE) is pleased to announce the recipients of their 2015 grants.

This year, the foundation had 11 applications from school district teachers and two home-school administrators and, out of the 11, the foundation was able to support six of the applications.

Aaron Wamsley, second-grade teacher, will be receiving $990 to purchase 22 book sets, which amounts to 520 books. These books include both fiction and nonfiction titles that are available to expand children’s enjoyment of reading.

Chris Couch, fifth-grade science teacher, will be receiving $250 for the purchase of four classroom digital microscopes, one for each grade-level science class. This addition to the classroom will capture real-world specimens for the children to see.
