School board recognizes retiring teachers

Tuesday evening’s monthly Board of Education meeting was busy.

The session began by recognizing four long-term teachers who are retiring at the end of the school year.

Pam Levonious, a Pagosa Springs Middle School (PSMS) language arts teacher, is saying “goodbye” after 13 years with the Archuleta School District (ASD).

Mary Helen Cammack, a high school special education teacher, is leaving after 23 years of service to ASD. Her career began in 1992.

Leeann Skoglund, a middle school social studies teacher, was unable to attend, but has worked at ASD since 1986 and is retiring after 29 years of service.

Mary Kurt-Mason, a high school special education teacher, is retiring after 30 years of service and a career that began in 1985.
