Sales tax collections continue to grow

The sales tax figures for Archuleta County have been unrealistically high during the first three months of 2015 because the Colorado Department of Revenue has been adding in the collection of taxes from previous years, dating back to 2011.

According to a report issued Tuesday by Archuleta County Finance Director Larry Walton, what happened in January and February has also occurred in March, though not to the same extent.

The total sales tax revenue remitted to the county for March 2015 was $635,190.48. However, $30,115 of this came from previous years, mostly 2013 and 2014, so only $605,075 was actually generated in March 2015.
