Courthouse contention continues

The courthouse continues to be a matter of contention between Archuleta County and the Office of the State Court Administrator (state courts), as was evidenced by a work session attended by representatives of both entities on Feb. 17.

In November 2014, the state courts submitted a packet of information to the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator Bentley Henderson and other county officials detailing issues with the courthouse and alleging safety risks. The packet also included a space assessment declaring that the courts needed more room.
