Dr. Morris Self, age 92, passed away on Aug. 13 in Pagosa Springs.
He served five years in the Army as a combat engineer in World War II and was a highly decorated D-Day veteran on Omaha Beach.
Morris graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Ph.D. degree. He was a professor at the University of Florida for many years. He also consulted as a structural engineer and served on a national committee that advised, designed and wrote national building regulations and codes.
He loved and was an expert handball and racquetball player.
Morris is survived by his wife and three children.
