8th Street repaving project hits snag

While the focus of Monday night’s public input meeting centered on whether or not parking should be removed and bike lanes added to 8th Street, at Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the Pagosa Springs Town Council, that question took a back burner to a more pressing concern.

“Before we go into the striping plan,” town planner James Dickhoff began, “I’ll share that we did find out some very new information regarding the geotechnical soil samples that were done a couple weeks ago. We don’t have the full report back yet, but we have enough information that indicates what was thought to be a substantial base of gravel under the asphalt is really only five to eight inches.”
