As ballots are arriving in mailboxes across Colorado leading up to the June 24 primary election, we are confident voters will find a more convenient and more secure election than ever before.
Members of the bipartisan Colorado County Clerks Association are committed to working together to improve the voter experience and to conduct elections with accuracy and integrity for all eligible Colorado voters.
As a voter, you will find choice when it comes to how you vote, when you vote, where you vote and how you return your ballot. Additionally, we have made it easier to change your address and register to vote.
All eligible voters will be sent a mail ballot; sign it and return it by mail or at a ballot drop-off box. Voters wanting the in-person experience can visit any Voter Service and Polling Center in their county. Think of these voter centers as one-stop shops, where you can vote in person, replace your ballot, change your address, use accessible voting machines and so on. All ballot drop-off locations and Voter Service and Polling Center locations will open by June 16 and remain open during regular hours through 7 p.m. on Election Day, with hours on Saturdays for your convenience.
This year, Colorado earned national praise for its election administration processes, recently ranking fourth among states by Pew Charitable Trusts. Flexibility for voters is only possible with advanced technology and security measures that ensure the accuracy and integrity of elections.
By linking post office, death and felony conviction records with voter registration information and driver’s license information, elections in Colorado are becoming more efficient for voters and taxpayers without sacrificing the security and integrity. Live-linked statewide connectivity gives election administrators the ability to see where a Coloradan is registered, where a ballot was sent, if a ballot has been issued and if a voter has already voted.
Bipartisan election judges verify signatures for every ballot received. This advanced technology ensures no one is able to vote twice, gives voters the opportunity to register to vote up to Election Day in a secure manner that prevents voter fraud, and allows us the cleanest voter rolls in our history. Voter fraud is very rare in Colorado and Senate Bill 14-161, signed into law earlier this year, imposes stiffer penalties now than ever before.
In a time of information overload and political rhetoric, the bipartisan Colorado County Clerks Association has developed the website, MyColoradoVote.com, as your resource for non-partisan and reliable voting information. The site features drop down menus with links to county websites, answers to frequently asked questions and interactive maps to find your voting locations.
County Clerks across Colorado are confident your voting experience in 2014 will be more convenient and more secure than ever before. It’s up to you to vote.
