Now is the time of year that the weather turns our thoughts to the outdoors and eyes skyward to focus on accomplishing long-awaited dreams — perhaps a childhood dream of sprouting wings and learning to fly.

This Saturday, April 5, allow the San Juan Flyers to show you how you can make that dream of flight come true. San Juan Flyers is hosting an open house at their hangar located just south of the main airport terminal (Avjet — at the end of Cloman, off of Piedra Road) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

San Juan Flyers is a nonprofit alternative to sole aircraft ownership and aircraft rental with two single engine airplanes and a designated hangar. The club has three certified flight instructors that offer both great training and convenient flying experiences into and out of Stevens Field.

This open house will introduce you to some of the members of the flying club and get a hands-on experience with the airplanes. You will get more information on what the requirements are to obtain your pilot’s certificate and future ratings. If you have your pilot’s certificate and want to get back in the air again, we can help you get your wings back.

Due to airport security, special procedures will be in place. If you wish to attend the open house, you must RSVP and reserve your spot. A San Juan Flyer representative will meet you in the Avjet building and escort you to the San Juan Flyers’ hangar and aircraft. No one will be allowed on the airport ramp without an escort. To RSVP, you may either email sanjuanflyer@gmail.com or call 731-3348. Please leave a message with your name, phone number and the number of people and time you plan to attend the open house.
