The annual Humane Society Chocolate Auction and Fundraising Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 22, at the Pagosa Springs Youth Center (entry will be through the Humane Society Thrift Store).

Tickets are only $10 and are available at the Humane Society Thrift Store at 269 Pagosa St., the animal shelter at 465 Cloman Blvd., and Higher Grounds Coffee at 189 Talisman Drive. Seating is limited. Remaining tickets will be available for $15 at the door.

This popular adult event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with socializing and the chance to preview more than 30 decadent chocolate creations donated by local restaurants, pastry chefs, caterers, candy stores and chocolatiers.

The price of admission includes a delicious seated lasagna dinner and dessert served prior to the start of the auction. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening with microbrew beer, wine selections and soft drinks.

Following dinner and dessert, the incredible chocolate creations will be live-auctioned to raise much-needed funds to help offset the daily operating costs of the Humane Society Animal Shelter. The shelter is a safe haven for animals in need and serves to house and find homes for the lost, abandoned and homeless dogs and cats of Archuleta County, which is truly a benefit for all county residents.

The Chocolate Auction is a wonderful way to have a fun-filled evening while supporting the animals by bidding on wonderful chocolate delights. Previous chocolate auctions have raised enough funds to buy a year’s worth of food for the nearly 600 dogs and cats that pass through the animal shelter each year. We hope this year’s auction will be equally successful.

The Humane Society does not receive any funding from the Humane Society of the United States, American Humane, the ASPCA or from United Way. The animal shelter relies on revenue from private donations, the thrift store, and fundraisers such as the Chocolate Auction.
