Betty DillerBetty Diller has announced her intent to seek re-election as treasurer for Archuleta County.
Diller, who completed a Master of Business Administration degree last fall using a county situation (versus a traditional business situation), was elected to the office to fill a vacancy in 2008, then was elected for a full term in 2010.
“Re-election will allow me to continue improving service to the public through making more information available and increasing efficiency,” Diller said in an e-mail. “My office has used technology and lean government philosophy to eliminate wasteful processes. This enables us to give greater service to the county. There is always more to do and I would be honored to be allowed to continue in this work.”
Over her five years in office, Diller said she, “brought in online tax and foreclosure information, electronic payments, lockbox processing, and record retention management as well as increasing the capabilities of my staff.”
If re-elected, Diller said she plans to develop staff training programs that she hopes will serve as a, “paradigm shift in the way the county finds and develops potential employees while at the same time providing tools for success for current staff.”
Diller said the largest challenge facing the treasurer’s office is developing staff to know the foundations, procedures and statutory requirements of the office while using wisdom to fulfill duties.
