County interviewing four HR candidates

Archuleta County staff and elected officials are slated to interview four finalists to head the Human Resources department for the county today, Jan. 2.

The position is one of several administrative positions within the Archuleta County organization being filled this winter. Other positions recently filled include county administrator and Department of Human Services director.

Former HR administrator Mitzi Bowman vacated the post on Nov. 15.

The four finalists are Tonya McCann, Patricia Attanasio, Peter O’Neill and Robert Smith.

The following information about each candidate is taken from his or her resume.

• McCann, of Pagosa Springs, currently serves as a paralegal in the Archuleta County Attorney’s Office and is currently the county’s interim HR director.

Prior to working for Archuleta County, McCann was a legal assistant and paralegal in Douglas County and for several law firms in the Denver area.

McCann studied paralegal studies at The School of Paralegal Studies Professional Career Development Institute, as well as studying at Colorado State University.

• Attanasio, of Chromo, recently worked with the Archuleta County Education Center doing administrative, accounting and instructing work.

She has also held positions in personnel management, accounting, payroll and administration for several agencies, including the City of Phoenix.

Attanasio holds a master’s degree in human resource management from Ottowa University

• O’Neill, of Frisco, Texas has held a variety of contract positions through O’Neill Management, including career coaching positions and skills trainer.

Prior to O’Neill Management work, O’Neill worked in career coaching, operations, human resources and project management for several companies, including the Mobil Oil Corporation.

O’Neill holds a bachelor’s in political science from Norwich University and a master’s in human resources management from the University of Utah.

• Smith, of Monte Vista, currently works for the City of Monte Vista as the human resources manager.

Prior to that, Smith worked as the human resources manager for the City of Fountain, Colo., with prior HR work for several other cities and municipalities.

Smith holds a bachelor’s in resources management and business administration from Colorado Christian University.
