Beginning Nov. 4, the Pagosa Springs CDC will host monthly community presentations and discussions on topics of interest to the community on the first Monday of each month.

The sessions will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center’s Silver Foxes Den.

Brad Cochennet, CEO of the Pagosa Springs Medical Center, and his management team will be the presenters at the Nov. 4 session.

The medical center has enabled many older residents to stay in Pagosa Springs to spend their retirement years here, and is improving the health of our community by providing needed services. The center is also one of the largest employers in the county and is bringing young professionals to Pagosa to live and work here.

Cochennet will provide an overview of the medical center, present findings from a recent economic impact study and discuss future plans.  He will answer questions following his presentation.

Renee Burch, health coverage guide with the San Juan Basin Health Department, a community navigator for the Affordable Care Act, will be on hand to discuss the Affordable Care Act and provide information to help navigate the website.

Angelene Talamante, a local Connect for Health Colorado insurance broker, will be available to answer questions regarding specifics as they apply to individual insurance carriers and to small business needs.

  1. The meeting will be followed by a networking reception.
