The office of Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and a handful of area business groups and organizations will host a workshop  titled “Beyond Colorado: How to Bring Your Products and Services to the Global Marketplace” in Durango for businesses looking to expand abroad.

The workshop will be held at the Durango Public Library 1900 E. 3rd Ave., 10:30 a.m.-noon, Thursday, Sept. 5.

Colorado export sales are on pace to reach record highs this year. Exports in the first half of 2013 were six percent higher compared to the same period in 2012, growing from $3.9 billion to $4.2  billion. At the current rate of growth, Colorado is projected to reach over $8.6 billion in annual export sales revenue.

These workshops are designed to help businesses, entrepreneurs, ranchers, farmers, agricultural producers, and food processors take advantage of this trend and grow their customer base outside the U.S.

At the workshop, attendees will hear from panelists who have a broad range of experience in exporting products, financing overseas distribution, and protecting intellectual property. Information will be provided  from the Colorado Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

There is no cost to attend, but space is limited, so R.S.V.P. by Sept. 4 at http://www.bennet.senate.gov/beyondcolorado.
