On Friday, Aug 16, 2013, Harold left us peacefully in his own home with Kristen and friends surrounding him.

Harold was born to Gerald and Elsie Maulsby on Dec. 15, 1927, in Mutual, Okla. He graduated from Perryton High School, Perryton, Texas, in 1946. He served in the United States Air Force where he learned computers. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War; he was stationed in France.  He was enlisted when he was 22 years old and honorably discharged after four years of service.

While in the service, he wrote letters to his soon-to-be wife, Joy. He married Joy in 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas. They lived in Pala Pinto, Texas, and had a son, Bret, in 1957. They moved and later resided on Normandy Drive in Fort Worth, Texas, with the birth of twin girls, Phyllis and Susan Maulsby, in 1959.

Harold was employed in 1954 as an IBM computer operator for Pan Petroleum which soon became Standard Oil to Amoco Oil. While working for Standard Oil, he flew with a team to Chicago to develop the COBOL language for the business productions. He was proud of this accomplishment. He worked for Amoco Oil in Fort Worth, Texas, for 16 years and completed 14 years for Amoco Oil in Tulsa, Okla., upon retiring in 1984. After his retirement, they moved back to Fort Worth to Meadowbrook Drive.

He was a little league baseball coach in Fort Worth for his son and teammates, including George Daniels. A companionship in sports began to emerge and lasted through his lifetime. George Daniels called him “Coach” over the last 49 years. It made Harold smile to hear George say that. In the old days, his favorite baseball team was the Kansas City Royals and later the Texas Rangers.

In 1991, Harold, Bret and Kristen moved to Pagosa Springs. It was his wish to live in Colorado for the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his half brother, Gary Baty, of Pretty Prairie, Kan., and granddaughter, Kristen Eve Maulsby, of Pagosa Springs.

He is superseded in death by his father, Gerald Maulsby; mother, Elsie Maulsby; wife Joy Maulsby; son, J. Bret Maulsby; daughters Phyllis and Susan Maulsby; and grandson, Matthew Clark Maulsby.

Services for Harold Maulsby are as follows: viewing will be Thursday, Aug. 22, from 3-6 p.m. at Pagosa Springs Funeral Home; services will be Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at the County Extension Building; burial will immediately follow the services at Hilltop Cemetery.

Thank you all for the love you have given over the years. Papa, you will be greatly missed
