The La Plata Medical Society is offering three college scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year.
Applicants can apply online at www.laplatamedicalsociety.org.
There is a $500 scholarship for a college freshman pursuing a degree; a $1,000 scholarship for a college junior or senior pursing a health care degree; and a $1,500 scholarship for a third or fourth year medical student, with emphasis in primary care.
Applicants should be from southwest Colorado. Applicants from Archuleta, La Plata and Montezuma counties will be given priority.
The application deadline is Aug. 20, 2013.
The scholarship recipients will be honored at the annual meeting of the La Plata Medical Society on Sept. 11 at the Doubletree Hotel in Durango.
