The San Juan National Forest Pagosa Ranger District has again reduced the size  and scope of the West Fork Fire closure area.

• The West Fork Campground is open, but dispersed camping beyond the developed campground is prohibited.

•  The West Fork Road remains closed to all motor vehicles past the West Fork Campground; however, pedestrian travel is allowed on the road for about one-half mile up to its junction with Forest Road No. 033. Forest Road No. 033 is also open only to foot travel.

• Approximately 26,300 acres of the West Fork drainage burned by the fire on the Pagosa District remain closed to the public, including the West Fork Trail  No. 561 (also known as the Rainbow Hot Spring Trail).

• The Continental Divide Trail No. 813 along the north end of the above-described closed area is open to travel.

For a map depicting the new closure area, go to  www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sanjuan/alerts-notices.

For more information, contact the Pagosa Ranger District at 264-2268.

Information on the status of West Fork Complex closure orders for areas east of the Continental Divide are available by contacting the Rio Grande  National Forest at (719) 852-5941.
