Douglas Johnson, age 75, of Boone, Iowa, and formerly of Pagosa Springs, Colo., died June 3, 2013, at his home in Boone. His body has been cremated. No services will be held.

Douglas was born in Bertha, Minn., on Feb. 4, 1938, the son of Oscar and Beatrix (Adams) Johnson. On June 25, 1960, he married Karol DeMoss at Fonda, Iowa. Douglas graduated from Sheldon High School in Sheldon, Iowa. He also attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill. and Texas A & M in Corpus Christi, Texas. Douglas received his master’s degree in 1973. He worked as a teacher, coach and school principal from 1960 to 2003 at schools in Iowa, Michigan, Illinois and Texas. Douglas loved football, especially following Texas A & M. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Karol of Boone, Iowa; four sons: Kirk Johnson and wife Holly of Boone, Iowa, Blake Johnson and wife Desiree of Portland, Ore., Jay Johnson and wife Kimber of Minneapolis, Minn., and Cary Johnson and wife Dana of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
