County administrator Jesse Smith will be the featured speaker on Tuesday, May 14, at the Archuleta County Republican Women’s meeting held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Nello’s. All are welcome to attend.

Smith’s appointment began the middle of April, to fill the vacancy left by the departure of former administrator Greg Schulte.  Smith’s first contract term will be six months, with the option to extend. In January 2013, Smith’s three-year contract as Montrose County Manager ended. Prior to that, Smith served eight years as assistant county manager in Garfield County. Positive reports have been written of his accomplishments in both positions.

Professionally, Smith has an M.S. degree in business administration, a Ph.D. in education and management plus credentials in local government and the private sector. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing golf.

Come and meet the new county administrator and hear ideas he has for the county.
