Child safety kits for pre-schoolers

Kiwanis club members have been fingerprinting, taking pictures and swabbing for DNA samples to complete a Child Safety Kit for area pre-schools. Head Start and Seeds of Learning have had Kiwanis members come in once a year to put together these kits for the families of the students.

The thought of having to use the information from these kits can be daunting, but the thought of having everything together in one spot if needed far outweighs that feeling. In conjunction with Pagosa Springs Police Department, the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Department and Kiwanis of Pagosa Springs this project is at no cost to the families or schools.

The club is looking to expand this service to Our Savior Lutheran and homeschool children. For more information regarding this project, please contact Joanne Irons at 946-7545.
