The Archuleta County Republican Women meeting April 9 is their third annual Tea Party Tax Day.

It will also be a time for people to come by and sign our petitions and resolutions that we will be sending to the State of Colorado and Washington D.C.

The speaker will be H. Wayne Wilson, CPA/PFS, CFP, CGMA. He will discuss the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, aka the “Fiscal Cliff Deal,” enacted on Jan. 2, 2013, its impact on 2012 tax returns and planning obstacles and opportunities for 2013 and beyond.

Wilson began his career in public accounting in Shreveport, La., upon graduation from college in 1969. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in Colorado and Louisiana. In addition to his CPA designation, he has also earned the personal financial specialist and chartered global management accountant designations, both of which are sanctioned by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is also a certified financial planner.

He established his first firm in Shreveport in 1977, which he sold in 1997 in order to move to Pagosa Springs, where he started a new practice. During his 40-plus years in public practice, he has provided both individual and business clients with assistance in many areas of accounting, taxation and planning. Particular areas of expertise include oil and gas accounting and taxation, estate and personal financial planning and business succession planning.

The meeting will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Nello’s restaurant and all are welcome.
