Posted

Registration for the second session of gymnastics begins Monday.

Through a partnership with Pagosa Springs Middle School and local instructor Jennifer Martin, the Town of Pagosa Springs Recreation Department is offering this program for kids age 3 and up.

Classes, which will be strictly limited to no more than 10 students per age group, begin April 16 and will run through May 17. Classes will be held in the middle school “mat room” (wrestling room) according to the following schedule:

Classes for ages 6 and 7 will be held Tuesdays and/or Thursdays (parents have the option to choose one day or the other, but not both) from 4-4:50 p.m. Classes for ages 8 and 9 will be held Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 5-5:50 p.m. Classes for ages 10 and up will be held Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 6-6:50 p.m.

In addition, classes will be held Fridays from 2-2:50 p.m. for ages 4 and 5, and an introductory class for ages 3 and 4 will be held Fridays from 3-3:50 p.m. Class size for Fridays will be limited to eight.

Since classes will only meet once per week, registration cost has been reduced from $77 to $35. Registrations will be available at the recreation office in Town Hall and will also be posted in Adobe format on the recreation department page at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

Tee ball

The Town of Pagosa Springs Recreation Department will accept registrations for this year’s tee-ball league through April 12.

Any child who will be 5 or 6 years old as of April 1 is eligible to participate. Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and will be dispersed at local schools, as well.

Registrations are also available for download in Adobe format through the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

Cost is $30 per player and $15 for each additional child in the same, immediate family who participates. Weather permitting, the season is tentatively scheduled to begin in early May.

Coaches and sponsorships for this year’s tee-ball teams are also needed and appreciated. Cost for sponsorship is $150, which includes sponsor’s name on team uniforms, commemorative plaque with team picture, and recognition in media articles.

For more information, call the recreation office at 264-4151, Ext. 231 or 232.

Adult basketball

Basketball schedules are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and can be downloaded through the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

Concessions will be available throughout the season. Managers are reminded that team registration fees are $250 per team, plus a $30 fee per player. Team and player fees are due at the start of each team’s second game. Also, numbered jerseys of similar color are required attire for participation in this year’s leagues.

Rosters may carry as many as 15 players; players are eligible to participate if they were 16 years of age or older as of March 1. Players may be added to the roster at any time throughout the season, but participants who have not paid the player fee before the start of their second game will not be permitted to play.

The season will run through early May. Call the recreation office at 264-4151, Ext. 231 for more information.

Skate pond

The skate pond behind the River Center has been closed for the season.

Higher temperatures and thinning ice have resulted in unsafe conditions; please refrain from venturing onto the ice. We also ask that no foreign objects be thrown onto the ice.

Signs indicating the pond’s closure have been posted in the adjacent parking lot.
