Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently stocked rainbow trout in three reservoirs in southwest Colorado and fishing should be excellent at those locations.
The reservoirs are: Echo Canyon Reservoir, 15,000 fish, located about five miles south of Pagosa Springs just off U.S. 84; Totten Reservoir, 5,000 fish, just east of Cortez; and Summit Reservoir, 5,000 fish, located about eight miles northwest of Mancos on Colo. 184.
The fish were stocked earlier than usual this year because of low water conditions at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Hatchery in Durango.
Anglers are reminded to be extra careful if they are ice fishing.
As the ice begins to melt, fish will be hungry and eager to hit lures and bait just off shore.
