Individuals who sold gold and other jewelry to Treasure Hunters in April can no longer seek reimbursement from the company, which has declared bankruptcy.

Treasure Hunters is one of several aliases used by THR and Associates, Inc., an Illinois-based company.

Treasure Hunters hosted a jewelry-buying event in Pagosa Springs from April 17-21 at what was then named the Villas at Pagosa Lodge.

Previously, a release issued by the company said the company will make good on all bad checks by issuing a money order with an extra $25 to cover any resulting bank fees.

But now, a notice of bankruptcy has been sent to creditors, declaring that creditors should not file a claim unless a notice to do so is received, stating, “There does not appear to be any property available to the trustee to pay creditors.”

Further, a meeting of creditors has been scheduled for Oct. 22 in Springfield, Ill.

People throughout the country were issued bad checks by the company, making national headlines.

The Illinois Secretary of State website lists the company as not in good standing, though no other details are given.
