Special to The PREVIEW

The second annual 19th Hole Concert series is set to continue today, Thursday, July 13, with a show by Bob Hemenger outside of the Pagosa Springs Golf Club clubhouse.

Admission is a $10 donation and the show will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The concert series aims to raise money for six local nonprofit organizations including Rise Above Violence, Justice Ministries, Pagosa Nordic Club, Audubon Rockies, Loaves and Fishes, and Veterans for Veterans.

Proceeds from the concert series will be pooled and distributed equally among all organizations chosen by the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado. Last year, the 19th Hole Concert series raised $750 for each nonprofit. This year the goal is to raise $1,000 for each of the featured organizations.

This week’s concert by Hemenger will benefit Loaves and Fishes. Hemenger is a local musician who plays a wide variety of genres such as Dixieland, jazz, blues, soul and pop.

Loaves and Fishes of Archuleta County is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2005 when four women saw a need in the community to feed the hungry. Loaves and Fishes is a faith- and community-based organization with a mission “to provide nutritious meals in a safe, warm, and caring environment, free of charge, to anyone who comes seeking nourishment and fellowship. And further to provide access to community services and resources to those in need, while providing opportunities for volunteers to give of themselves in service to others.”

Loaves and Fishes is the only organization in Archuleta County that provides this service. With the help of community volunteers and donations, they are able to accomplish their mission. In 2016, Loaves and Fishes provided over 13,000 meals.

The concert series will continue on Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. through July 20. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit and enjoy the music with a beautiful mountain scene in the background. The concerts are family-friendly, but please leave your dogs at home. Food, drinks, and ice cream will be available for purchase during the concerts. Signature drinks will also be available during the concerts. So, come on out to support the nonprofits while treating yourself to some amazing music.
